"Habitat in Canada; ex semine. D. Kalm." RCN: 638.

Neotype (McNeill in Taxon 25: 613. 1976): U.S.A. New York: Essex Co. Huntingdon Wildlife Forest Station, Newcomb, sand pit E. of ranger station, 23 Jul 1939, Heady 768 (DAO; iso- US).

Current name: Bromus ciliatus L. View in CoL ( Poaceae ).

Note: Hitchcock (in Contr. U. S. Natl. Herb. 12: 122. 1908) stated that no type was extant. Baum (in Canad. J. Bot. 45: 1849. 1967) referred to a specimen at S, annotated by Linnaeus "H. U. 4 e semine Canadensi" (sheet 40.9), as the “holotype”, with sheet “93.10” at LINN (actually 93.12), annotated on the verso by Linnaeus with "e semine canaden.", an “isotype”. However, McNeill (in Taxon 25: 612-613. 1976) convincingly argued that Baum’s typification was unacceptable because the specimens (LINN 93.10, 93.12 & S 40.9) conflict with Linnaeus’ diagnosis and, in the absence of any relevant original material, he designated a neotype.
