TYPE LOCALITY: China, Chekiang (= Zhejiang), near Ningpo .

DISTRIBUTION: E China: Zhejiang, N Fujian and S Anhui; formerly from Yunnan and Guangdong to Jaingsu ( China) according to Shou (1962:454).

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; IUCN - Vulnerable.

COMMENTS: Included in muntjak by Haltenorth (1963:42).
