DISTRIBUTION: C Brazil to Paraguay and N Argentina.

STATUS: CITES - Appendix I; U.S. ESA - Endangered; IUCN - Vulnerable.

SYNONYMS: furcata, paludosus , palustris .

COMMENTS: Reviewed by Pinder and Grosse (1991, Mammalian Species, 380).
