TYPE LOCALITY: Indonesia, "Timor" Isl, Pritti near Kupang .

DISTRIBUTION: Timor Isl ( Indonesia).

COMMENTS: This species was further described by Müller and Schlegel, 1845, in Temminck, Verh. Nat. Gesch. Nederland. Overz. Bezitt., Zool., Mammalia, p. 173. A feral population of S. celebensis according to Groves (1981«), but a valid species according to Hardjasasmita (1987).
