Replaced synonym of: Robinia acacia L. (1759) , nom. illeg.

Lectotype (Barrie in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 82. 1993): Herb. Clifford: 354, Robinia 1, sheet B (BM-000646538) .

Generitype of Robinia Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 174. 1929).

Current name: Robinia pseudoacacia L. View in CoL ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Polhill (in Bosser & al., Fl. Mascareignes 80: 80. 1990) indicated 913.1 (LINN) as type, but this sheet lacks the Species Plantarum number (i.e. “1”) and is a post-1753 addition to the herbarium, and not original material for the name. Brummitt & Taylor (in Taxon 39: 303. 1990) discussed the orthography of the specific epithet, concluding that “pseudoacacia” is correct.
