III. Gnypeta View in CoL crebrepunctata species group

The crebrepunctata species group may be characterized by the following combination of characters: spermatheca C-shaped, capsule and stem short, broad, and tubular or club-shaped ( Figs 122 View Figs 117-124 , 127-129 View Figs 125-129 , 136 View Figs 130-138 ); median lobe of aedeagus with enlarged bulbus ( Figs 117, 118 View Figs 117-124 , 130-132 View Figs 130-138 ); male tergite 8 truncate ( Figs 120 View Figs 117-124 , 134 View Figs 130-138 ).

Species included: G. crebrepunctata (Casey) , G. manitobae Casey , G. uteana Casey and G. carbonaria Mannerheim. The following species belong to this group but do not occur in Canada: Gnypeta majuscula Casey (southern United States) and G. rubrior Tottenham (Palaearctic) .
