Herbaceous, monoecious and cespitose plants; culms with long internodes, leaves with flat, pulviniform pseudopetioles, leaves lanceolate to ovate, asymmetric with the base obliquely truncate. Synflorescences 1–4 per node, terminal and axillary; terminal synflorecences paniculiform, the longest one staminate, the shorter one(s) bisexual; axillary synflorescences bisexual with 1–3 pistillate spikelets and 1–10 staminate spikelets ( Fig. 8E–F View FIGURE 8 ).
1 species in Mexico: Lithachne pauciflora . Mexico to Argentina; Chiapas, Oaxaca, San Luis Potosí, Tabasco, Veracruz; 0–1300 m.
