Rhizomes pachymorph; culms hollow with thin walls, 3–6 m tall, 1.5–2 cm in diameter, scandent; internodes green with purple macules internodes green with purple spots, appressed tricomes below the nodes, internodes papillose-scabrose; culm leaf sheaths well developed, deciduous with fimbriae; culm leaf blade reflexed; branching intravaginal; node with one bud developing 25–30 branches in distinctly fan-shaped (apsidate) arrangement; foliage leaves pseudopetiolate and fimbriate; synflorescences racemose, Comb-like; fruit a nucoid caryopsis.”
