Type Locality: Nigeria, "Asaba, 150 mi. [241 km] up the Niger River".
Vernacular Names: Crosse's Shrew.
Synonyms: Crocidura ingoldbyi Heim de Balsac 1956 .
Distribution: Lowland forest from Guinea to W Cameroon.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Formerly included ebriensis and jouvenetae ; see Heim de Balsac and Meester (1977). C. crossei occurs almost sympatrically with C. jouvenetae from Guinea to Côte d’Ivoire.
