Remarks.
Stenus binotatus is widely distributed across the Palaearctic from the British Isles to East Siberia. According to Kastcheev and Puthz (2011: 440), the record for Kazakhstan in Smetana (2004: 552), which was not repeated by Schülke and Smetana (2015: 808), is based on a misidentification. In view of the distribution in Caucasia and Turkey, the existence of Stenus binotatus in Iran is conceivable.
