Etymology. The specific name is a Latin adjective meaning excavated, alluding to the spoon-shaped female postepigastric plate.
Diagnosis. Males of this species resemble those of H. baherae sp. nov. and H. numerosa sp. nov. by the conductor approximately the same size of the embolus, without proximal projection and with single tip, endite’s P1 longitudinally oriented, not folded over itself, and by the absence of endite’s P3 ( Figs 60C,H View FIGURES 60 , 63C,H View FIGURES 63 ); they can be distinguished from those of H. numerosa sp. nov. by endite’s P1 directed posteriorly ( Figs 66C–D View FIGURES 66 ) (directed anteriorly in H. numerosa sp. nov.) and from those of H. baherae sp. nov. by the endite’s P2 represented by a small acute process ( Figs 66C,D View FIGURES 66 ) (a large bent plate in H. excavata sp. nov.). Females resemble those of H. tallitae sp. nov. and H. platnicki sp. nov. by the lack of a postepigastric scape and by the long postepigastric plate, tongue-shaped ( Figs 28J View FIGURES 28 , 31J View FIGURES 31 ). They differ by the excavated postepigastric plate, ( Figs 65F–H View FIGURES 65 , 66J View FIGURES 66 ) (not excavated in both H. tallitae sp. nov. and in H. platnicki sp. nov., Figs 28J View FIGURES 28 , 31J View FIGURES 31 ).
