Megaselia brunneipennis Disney et al., 1990 View in CoL , not Costa, 1857.
An aberrant specimen was misidentified as M. brunneipennis ( Disney et al. 1990) View in CoL . The latter species is therefore removed from the list for the Canary Islands.

Natural history
It has been reared from the sporophores of fungi of the families Coprinaceae and Russulaceae . Adults have been recorded visiting the flowers of Crataegus monogyna (Rosaceae) .
