Etymology. The specific name is a patronym given in honor of my friend, Evgeniy Yu. Kulikov (Rubtsovsk, Russia), who helped in the organization of the field trip to Ivanovskyi Mt. Range, where the types of the new species were collected.

Diagnosis. The new species is similar to the widespread A. lignaria in having triangular epigynal fovea (Fo) and quadrangular septal base (Sb), but differs from this species by the apical pocket (Ap) with one hood (vs. apical pocket with two hoods) and by distinct apical lips of the epigyne (Al) (vs. indistinguishable, cf. Fig. 63 View FIGURES 63–71 and fig. 120 in Marusik et al. 2004).

Description. Female (holotype). Total length 8.3. Carapace: 4.2 long, 3.5 wide. General appearance as in Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–9 . Coloration. Carapace and chelicerae dark brown. Eye field black. Sternum and labium brown. Endites, coxae and palps yellow-brown. Legs yellow-brown with yellow stripes. Femora III–IV with indistinct gray annulation. Abdomen dark gray dorsally, with dark brown cardiac mark. Venter of abdomen yellow-gray. Spinnerets dark gray. Spination of leg I: Fe d1-1-1 p0-0-2 r1-0-1; Pa r1; Ti p1-0-0 r1-0-0 v2-2-2-2-2-2; Mt p0-1-0 r0-1-0 v2-2-0. Leg measurements: I 4.1, 1.8, 3.9, 3.7, 1.65 (15.15); II 4.05, 1.8, 3.7, 3.85, 1.6 (15.0); III 4.0, 1.65, 3.5, 4.8, 1.8 (15.75); IV 4.95, 1.85, 4.5, 6.9, 2.45 (20.65).

Epigyne and internal genitalia as in Figs 63–65 View FIGURES 63–71 . Fovea is very narrow. Septal base bulging fills almost the entire fovea. Septal stem undeveloped. Lips of the epigyne (Li) separated by twice their width. Apical pocket as wide as septal base. Receptacles (Re) clavate, clearly delineated from copulatory ducts (Cd). Copulatory ducts 2 times shorter than receptacles.

Male unknown.

Distribution. Known from two closely spaced localities in the Ivanovskyi Mt. Range of the Altai Mountains ( Figs 75–76 View FIGURES 72–77 ).

Comments. Members of Acantholycosa lignaria -group can be confidently recognized by males only. Despite this, A. kulikovi sp. n. is herein placed in this group based on strong similarity between its epigyne and those of A. lignaria .
