[Vulpes] fulvipes Martin 1837 , Proc. Zool. Soc. Lond., 1837: 11.

Type Locality: "island of Chiloé".

Vernacular Names: Darwin's Fox.

Synonyms: Lycalopex lagopus ( Molina 1782) .

Distribution: Chile (Chiloé Isl, and Nahuelbuta National Park)( Medel et al., 1990).

Conservation: CITES Appendix II (as included in Pseudalopex (= Lycalopex ) griseus ).

Discussion: The distinctiveness of fulvipes is supported by mtDNA analyses ( Yahnke et al., 1996).
