Type locality. Punjab, India.

The species was originally described from Simla (=Shimla) ( Distant 1888b). Chaudhry et al. (1966) first reported on specimens from Kalabagh, Hazara which is in the Northwest Frontier Province. Additional specimens were collected from Chaangla Gali, Murree, Punjab, Pakistan at 8000 feet altitude on 18.VII.2006. They are fast flying, night active cicadas.

Remarks. The species is known from India, Pakistan, Bhutan, and Nepal ( Metcalf 1963a; Chaudhry et al. 1966; Duffels & van der Laan 1985).
