is an important source of frankincense distributed in Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Sudan. It is the common frankincense tree in which incensole and its acetate are available in abundant amounts (Paul et al., 2012). Incensole and incensole acetate are biomarkers for this species in addition to n -otctanol and n -octyl acetate. All analyses reported for this frankincense confirmed the existence of both incensole and its acetate albeit the variation in their concentrations ( Al-Shidhani et al., 2018; Camarda et al., 2007; Hamm et al., 2005; Niebler and Buettner, 2016; Paul, 2012).
