Type locality

Thailand: Changwat Chiang Mai, Amphoe Chiang Dao, Ban Tham .

Material examined

One male and three female paratypes on slide, Thailand, Chiang Mai, Amphoe Chiang Dao, Ban Tham, forest soil, Berlese extraction, 17 December 1980, Deharveng leg. (sample THA-013) ; five females on slide, ibid, rotten wood, Berlese extraction, Deharveng leg. (sample THA-005) ; five females on slide, ibid, under reeds, Deharveng leg. (sample THA-012). Deposited in MNHN, except for five specimens in NJU.

Additions to original description

Lateral process of labial palp slightly curved, as thick as normal chaetae, with tip reaching beyond apex of labial papilla; four chaetae associated with the same papilla ( Figure 5A ). Chaetae of labial base as M 1, R, E, L 1, L 2, all smooth; R 0.8 times as long as chaeta M 1; chaetae X 2, X and X 4 smooth, the latter two as microchaetae; chaeta X 3 absent ( Figure 5B ). Ventral tube posteriorly with two apical and two spine-like smooth chaetae; each lateral flap with six smooth and up to three ciliate chaetae ( Figure 5C ). Dorsal macrochaetae shown in Figure 5D–F . Th. II with three (m1, m2, m2i) medio-median, two (m4, m4p) medio-lateral, about 15 posterior macrochaetae and three lateral S-chaetae; p4–6 as microchaetae. Th. III with 19 macrochaetae and two S-chaetae; p5 as microchaeta; m6e as macrochaeta and m6p as microchaeta. Abd. I with four macrochaetae centrally (m2–4, m4p) and two S-chaetae. Abd. II with two (m3, m3e) central, one lateral (m5) macrochaetae and two S-chaetae. Abd. III with one central (m3), three lateral (am6, pm6, p6) macrochaetae and two S-chaetae. Abd. IV with three central (A3, B4–5), 2 lateral (E2, E3) macrochaetae and about 12 S-chaetae on each side. Abd. V with three S-chaetae; p3a, p4a and p5a absent.

Forest litter species.

Remarks

This species is most similar to Coecobrya guanophila Deharveng, 1990 in lateral process of labial palp, dorsal cephalic chaetotaxy, claw structure, trochanteral organ, macrochaetotaxy of Th. II, Abd. III and Abd. V (with the absence of p3a, p4a and p5a, contrary to other species of the genus), S-chaetotaxy and posterior face of ventral tube; it differs from C. guanophila in the presence of X 2 on labial base, absence of m2i on Abd. I, m3ep on Abd. II and A6 on Abd. IV, and six smooth chaetae on lateral flap (seven in S. guanophila ).
