The taxonomy of this genus is in need of synoptic update as reference to scattered papers is necessary for identification ( Calvert 1920; Belle 1970, 1988b, 1996; Donnelly 1989); at least four species are known from Ecuador ( Fig. 73 View FIGURE 73 ), but much more work is needed to clarify the status of others. Habitat includes small streams in forested areas.
