Agrilus rossanae Curletti 2005:556 View in CoL

Diagnosis. Color pattern as in A. percarus , but basal blue area on pronotum more greenish, darker blue area in elytral depressions larger and extending to humeri and somewhat posteriorad, posterior 2/3 of elytra golden green with golden setae, black beneath with greenish reflections in male and coppery reflections on dorsal portion of metacoxal plate and abdominal ventrites, patches of silvery setae on lateral portions of abdominal ventrites 3–5. Front dark bluish-green in male, red in female, with strong medial depression with few short silvery setae on lower 1/2, epistoma very narrow, less than 1/4 width between antennal insertions; pronotum with strong prehumeral carinae, deep, nearly circular medial depression for 1/2 width of pronotum along base and strong lateral depressions behind middle; apices of elytra broadly rounded or rounded-truncate with few coarse teeth; prosternum of male nearly glabrous, femora with small teeth on ventral margins; male with metatarsomere 1 shorter than 2–3 combined. Male genitalia as in Fig. 58.

Specimens examined. Costa Rica: Ala[juela Prov.], 20 km S Upala, 11–15 May 1990, F.D. Parker (EMUS), Prov. Punta[renas Prov.], Est. Sirena, ACOSA, 1–100m, L-N- 270500 -507900, 6-12 ABR 1995, A. Picado, #4573 (INBC, INBIOCRI002196976). Panamá: [Colon Prov.], Fort Sherman, 29 Dec. 2001, F. Ødegaard (Holotype, MCCI)

Discussion. This species was originally described from a unique female. Superficially it looks very similar in coloration to Agrilus percarus but is probably not closely related to it. Agrilus rossanae differs most conspicuously from A. percarus and the others in this species group in having strong prehumeral carinae and a deep round depression across the midline on the basal 1/2 of the pronotum. The male is 5.4 mm, the female 6.5 mm.
