Peroderma cylindricum Heller, 1865

Peroderma cylindricum was collected from Sardina pilchardus , inserted into the muscle behind the operculum.

This species was previously found on S. pilchardus , in the Mediterranean ( Heller 1865; Cornalia 1874), in Monaco ( Brian 1912; Monod 1923), Italy ( Richiardi 1880; Brian 1906), Greece ( Serbetis 1964) and Tunisia ( Ben Hassine et al. 1990; Ben Souissi & Ben Hassine 1992; Becheikh 1993; Becheikh et al. 1994; Benmansour & Ben Hassine 1997) and in the Adriatic ( Radujkovic & Raibaut 1989). It was also reported from Engraulis encrasicolus ( Raibaut et al. 1998) . In Algeria ( Algiers), P. cylindricum has been collected on S. pilchardus by Dollfus (1933), Nunes-Ruivo (1954) and Dieuzeide and Roland (1956).
