Lernanthropus trachuri was collected from the gills of Trachurus trachurus .
This species was already reported on T. trachurus in North Africa by Rose and Vaissiere (1952) and in Algeria (Mostaganem) by Nunes-Ruivo (1954). It was also collected in other Mediterranean localities from Lichia vadigo ( L. amia ) in France ( Richiardi 1880), T. trachurus in Italy ( Brian 1903, 1906) and Tunisia ( Benmansour & Ben Hassine 1997), T. mediterraneus in Turkey ( Öktener & Trilles 2004a), Campogramma glaycos and T. trachurus in the Mediterranean ( Raibaut et al. 1998).
