Otth (1824) cited material collected by Sieber deposited in his herbarium, which should be in G-DC according to Stafleu et al. (2000: 857). Greuter et al. (1997) expressed doubt that the type material from Otth’s herbarium cited in the protologue (Otth 1824) is lost and cited isotypes in JE, PR and WU. Collection G-DC is available online but we found no material that could belong to the original material of S. fruticulosa . We also contacted L. Gautier (Head Curator Phanerogams a G), who confirmed that no original material is in extant. Sets of Sieber’s collections are already known from many herbaria ( Stafleu & Cowan, 1985) and we found specimens belonging to original material of S. fruticulosa in GOET, FR, JE, PR and PRC. During our examination of the material deposited in PRC four specimens belonging to the original material of S. fruticulosa were found. P. Mraz marked cited specimens in PRC as isolectotypes. Although labels contain no information on collector or collection date, specimens in PRC belong to Sieber’s Herbarium Florae Creticae. A. S. Becker marked one specimen deposited in FR as type. However, these typifications were not effectively published according to Art. 7.9 of ICN. Therefore, one of the specimens in PRC is designated here as lectotype.
