Notes
Diopatra neapolitana , originally described from the Gulf of Naples, used to be the only Diopatra species recorded along European coasts. However, several recent publications have demonstrated that more Diopatra species ( Diopatra marocensis Paxton, Fadlaoui & Lechapt, 1995, Diopatra micrura Pires, Paxton, Quintino & Rodrigues, 2010, Diopatra biscayensis Fauchald, Berke & Woodin, 2012) are present along European coasts (e.g. Fauchald et al. 2012, Arias and Paxton 2013), including the Turkish Aegean ( Çınar et al. 2014). Therefore, at least some of the Greek specimens of Diopatra neapolitana could belong to other Diopatra species.
