References and records from Norway
Mesochra Brucei sp. nov. – Richard (1898): 326 – 338, type locality – Svalbard Archipelago. Maraenobiotus brucei (Richard 1898) – Brehm (1917): 609 – 623; Olofsson (1917): 1 – 39; Olofsson (1918): 183 – 646.
This species was found and described by Richard (1898) from the Svalbard Archipelago – from ponds on Bear Island; from lakes on Barents Island; most likely also from ponds on Amsterdam Island (young individuals) and from lakes in Sassendal.
Olofsson (1917, 1918) reported this species from the littoral of various small freshwater habitats in Svalbard ( Spitsbergen Island), characterised by moss and riparian vegetation, and from peat near ponds – that is Coles Bay (most likely pond Tenndammen, small pond, peat near pond), Pyramiden (small ponds in Mimerdalen), Nordenskiold Glacier (small ponds near glacier), Erdmannflya (small pond, water from bog soil), Diabasodden (moss, vegetation of small ponds, puddles, water-filled pit of the effluent), Adventfjord (moss, vegetation of small ponds), Crednermorenen (moraine) (small ponds, from soil and shore moss, vegetation).
Brehm (1917) found it in Spitsbergen, Svalbard Archipelago.
