Diagnosis. This species is similar to P. iriomotensis sp. n., but distinguishable by the following characteristics: antennae narrowly pectinate; elytral disc finely with asetigerous punctations; elytra 1.36–1.89 (1.45) times as wide as pronotal width; pygidium not arcuate at the middle; 8 th sternite with apical margin almost straight; phallobasic rod wide; phallus with a linear median sclerite at apical 2 / 3.

Redescription. Male. Head and pronotum chestnut brown; antennae, legs and abdomen brownish yellow; elytra mostly chestnut brown, gradually becoming paler near apical margin ( Fig. 1); head, pronotum and elytra little darker or lighter in some specimens. Body covered with brownish yellow setae.

Antennae narrowly pectinate; antennomere 1 claviform; 2 rectangular; 3 triangular, three times as long as wide; 4 longer than wide; 5–10 same as long as wide; 11 fusiform ( Fig. 3).

Pygidium with apical margin slightly posteriorly curved; pygidial struts elongate (Fig. 12). Apical margin of 7 th sternite broadly emarginated in the middle. Apical margin of 8 th sternite almost straight (Fig. 14). Spicular fork with lateral plates not expanded; spicular apodeme separated at apical 1 / 3; intraspicular fork elongate (Fig. 16).

Fully inflated aedeagus with elongate connecting membrane between tegmen and phallus, into which basal 1 / 3 of phallus is inserted; phallobase rather thin, with two short processes weakly pigmented in dorsal view; phallobasic rod wide, divided apically; phallus rather elongate, with a linear median sclerite at apical 2 / 3 (Figs 18, 19).

Female. Similar to male, but antennomeres 4–10 weakly expanded outwardly; inner margin of hind tibiae not concave; apical margin of 7 th sternite narrowly incised in the middle. Pygidium with apical margin round ( Fig. 22). Eighth sternite slightly emarginated in the middle ( Fig. 23). Ovipositor shorter than length of abdomen; ( Fig. 24); lamina with a linear median plate in ventral view ( Fig. 25, shown by black arrow); proctigeral bacculi long, reaching proctiger in dorsal view ( Fig. 26).

Measurements and ratio. Male (n = 9): BL 5.31–8.30 (6.80) mm; PW 1.52–2.47 (2.08) mm; PL 1.26 –2.00 (1.70) mm; EW 2.20–3.50 (2.89) mm; EL 4.05–6.30 (5.10) mm; PW/PL 1.14–1.28 (1.22); EL/EW 1.61–1.84 (1.76); EL/PL 2.42–3.21 (3.00); EW/PW 1.32–1.50 (1.40). Female (n = 9): BL 6.74–9.66 (7.86) mm; PW 2.00– 2.90 (2.36) mm; PL 1.63–2.37 (1.94) mm; EW 2.77–4.10 (3.41) mm; EL 4.94–7.36 (5.92) mm; PW/PL 1.11–1.29 (1.22); EL/EW 1.65–1.94 (1.73); EL/PL 2.74–4.05 (3.07); EW/PW 1.36–1.89 (1.45).

Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu), Russia (after Melnik, 2009).

Biological notes. Some of examined materials were collected from a tree hollow of Zelkova serrata in Hongô, Tokyo (private communication, K. Sakai), and by light trap in the primary forest (see Miyatake, 1985).
