Remarks. The number of taxa currently assigned to this family is 36, excluding Paranarthrurella (Anderson 2012) . Certain characters exhibited by the group are implicit in the following accounts, which include the absence of pleopods in the females, the cheliped basis without a free posterior lobe, and the uropod exopod (if present) fused with the basal article (or ‘peduncle’, e.g. Bird 2012) to form an ‘exopodal process’.
