Trioserica Moser, 1922

Trioserica Moser, 1922: 111 (type species Trioserica lepichaeta Moser, 1922 by subsequent designation [Ahrens 2002]). Sinoserica Miyake & Yamaya, 2001: 40, new synonymy (type species Sinoserica maculipennis Miyake & Yamaya, 2001 View in CoL by original designation)

Type material examined. Holotype ( Sinoserica maculipennis ): ɗ "Baoshan Yunnan / China Yunnan Baoshan C. 2100 m alt. 10.VII.1998 A. Gorodinski / Holotypus Sinoserica maculipennis sp. n. Y. Miyake 199" ( NMMC).

Remarks. The taxon described by Miyake & Yamaya (2001) as Sinoserica maculipennis is very similar to Trioserica rugosa ( Brenske, 1898) and T. tarsata ( Brenske, 1894) , differing only in the larger body size, the hypomeron only weakly margined at base, and the shape of the parameres. It shares with both species as well as with the type species of Trioserica ( Trioserica lepichaeta Moser, 1922 ) the slightly tridentate anterior tibia, the light color of body surface with more or less large dark spots, and especially, the general morphology of the genitalia. Characteristics of the latter are the shortened right paramere, which is inserted at the apex of the phallobase, and the dorsolaterally inserted left paramere, which is much longer than the right. Since Sinoserica have all the diagnostic characters of Trioserica , it is regarded as a junior synonym of the latter resulting in the new combination: Trioserica maculipennis (Miyake & Yamaya) .
