Campanularia hicksoni Totton, 1930 View in CoL
Campanularia laevis View in CoL — Hickson & Gravely, 1907: 25, pl. 4 fig. 26; Ritchie, 1913: 19, fig. 5.
Campanularia hicksoni Totton, 1930: 148 View in CoL –150, fig. 7a–e; Peña Cantero et al., 2004: 2297–2299 (synonymy); Peña Cantero, 2008: 461 –462; 2010b: 770; 2014a: 1725; Soto Àngel & Peña Cantero, 2015: 1000, fig. 9c–d.
Material examined. Stn 126, four pedicels and a single hydrotheca, basibiont of Lafoea dumosa (NIWA 117506); Stn 130, three hydrothecae on Staurotheca densa (MNCN 2.03/543); Stn 134, several hydrothecae on tube of benthic organism (NIWA 117507); Stn 139, three hydrothecae on Hydractinia sp. and Staurotheca nonscripta (NIWA 117508); Stn 178, five hydrothecae on Oswaldella stepanjantsae (MNCN 2.03/544).
Measurements (in µm). Height of hydrothecae 1550–3200; diameter at aperture 800–1350.
Ecology and distribution. Eurybathic species found at depths from 10 ( Naumov & Stepanjants 1972) to 779 m ( Peña Cantero 2014a); present material between 60 and 348 m, epibiotic on Hydractinia sp., Oswaldella stepanjantsae , Staurotheca densa , S. nonscripta and tube of benthic organism, and basibiont for colonies of Lafoea dumosa .
Circum-Antarctic distribution (Peña Cantero et al. 2004). Recently reported from off Deception and Livingston islands ( Peña Cantero 2008), Peter I Island ( Peña Cantero 2010b) and the South Sandwich Islands ( Soto Àngel & Peña Cantero 2015), in West Antarctica , and off Queen Mary Coast ( Peña Cantero 2014a), in East Antarctica . See Peña Cantero et al. (2004) for previous records. In the Ross Sea, already known from McMurdo ( Hickson & Gravely 1907; Ritchie 1913; Totton 1930), Cape Royds ( Ritchie 1913) and Cape Adare ( Totton 1930). Present material collected in Robertson Bay and off Cape Adare, Adare Peninsula and Moubray Bay .
