Monomorium brasiliense Forel View in CoL   HNS

Monomorium minutum subsp. brasiliense Forel   HNS , 1908: 361 (w).

Monomorium monomorium subsp. brasiliense   HNS : Brandao, 1991: 357.

Monomorium brasiliense   HNS : Bolton, 1995: 260.

Bolton (1987) did not study the type of this species, nor the possibly corresponding native Monomorium   HNS material. The Monomorium   HNS native to South America are moderate to large in size; M. inusuale   HNS and M. delabiei   HNS are small but with HW greater than 0.60 mm. There is a possibility that M. brasiliense   HNS might in fact be a tramp species, erroneously described by Forel as a different (subspecific) taxon.
