Type locality: "Insula Saleier".

Distribution: Indonesia (Sulawesi) ( Heller, 1897a).

Remark: Heller (1897a) spelled the name of this species in two different ways in the original work: A. salayana (pp. 1 and 8) and A. saleijana (p. 19). Apogonia saleijana is selected here as the correct original spelling by the action of First Reviser (Article 24 of ICZN 1999).
