Diagnosis. this species differs from others in the group by the following combined characters: males clypeo-genal angulationı expandedı protuberant and rounded (as D. semicircularis ); males anterior portion of pronotum with wide central emargination (as D. socius and D. filgerasi); males elytra interstriae (except 1stı which is convex) flatı disc smooth and shineı lacking distinct microsculpture viewed under 20x magnification).

Redescription. colour: blackı shiny. Head: fronto-clypealı genal and inter-ocular surfaces smooth. Gena borders slightly curved inward. Cephalic carina longer than wideı rounded at apex. Pronotum: anterior portion with wide central emargination. Pronotal disc shinyı lacking punctures and with two central weak lobes on anterior portion. Region adjacent to eyesı near anterior anglesı with coarse weakly impressed punctures. Posterior margin with at most some weakly impressed ocellate punctures randomly spaced. Metasternum: sides and anterior portion of anterior lobe covered by long hair. Setigerous punctures equally spaced at sides. Elytra: striae deeply impressed having fine punctures spaced by twice their diameter. First interstriae (near elytral suture) distinctly convex in relation to other interstriae which are flat. Interstriae disc with dark brown colourı lacking microsculpture. Abdomen: sides of each ventrite having two types of setae: groups of one-tofour longer setae and very short adjacent setaeı which have 1/6 of the longer setae length. Puncture of each ventrite interrupted medially as well as groove along the posterior margin of sixth ventrite. Aedeagus ( Figure 22 View Figure 22 (cıd-e)). Dorsallyı paramere apexes roundedı convergentı strongly constrained medially; longitudinal excavation absentı basal excavation presentı rounded. Laterallyı subtle declivity from basis towards apex; wide emargination taking 1/3 of paramera lengthı strongly excavated. Ventrallyı basal excavations wideı elliptical – similar to a groove; subgenital plate largeı covering more than half of ventral partı round at basisı strongly emarginated medially.
Morphological variation. males BL: 14 – 19 mmı PW: 8 – 10 mm. Females BL: 16 – 17 mmı PW: 9 mm. Distinguished from males as follows: Head: fronto-clypeal surface striated. Coarse puncture present posterior to cephalic carina. Cephalic carina transversalı forming a weak pair of tubercles. Pronotum: simply convexı lacking lobes. Elytra: striae deeply impressedı punctures separated by twice their diameter. Blue sheen present near basis. Abdomen: sixth ventrite four times larger than fifth and bearing a pair of weak tubercles on the mid-portion ( Figure 7 View Figure 7 (e-g)).
Distribution. Brazilian Atlantic forest in the states of Rio de Janeiroı São Paulo and Santa Catarina ( Figure 27 View Figure 27 ).
