This genus currently contains some 90 named species but many others still await description. The majority of Silba species are associated with the tropical forests of Africa, Asia, and Australasia extending northwards into southern Europe, Taiwan and southern China. Larvae have been reared from the fruits and stems of a wide range of tropical plants.
