Chorology.

Stenus medus , described from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and northern Iran ( Puthz 1981: 702), is widely distributed in Transcaucasia, Turkey, and northern and northwestern Iran between 44°00'E (Orumieh) and 53°00'E (Shahmirzad) (Fig. 12 View Figures 7–12 ).

Biogeographical characterization.

Due to its distribution in Transcaucasia and its high abundance in the Hyrcanian zone in the northern slopes of the Elburz Mountains, Stenus medus is a typical expansive Caspian faunal element.
