Material examined.
Portugal, Guarda • Gouveia, Rio Mondego, Casais de Folgosinho , 40.454°N, 7.493°W, 976 m a.s.l., 24 Aug. 2023, leg. Ferreira, Benitez-Bosco & Padilha, 1 ♀ (sequenced), dissected and slide mounted ( RMNH) GoogleMaps .
Remarks.
The Portuguese specimen matches the description of Torrenticola tenuipalpis , a species originally described by Lundblad (1956) as a “ variatio ” of T. amplexa based on a single female collected in a stream in Santa Comba Dão, Portugal. Recently, Cantallo et al. (2022) ranked the latter taxon as a distinct species. The sequenced specimen from Portugal forms a unique BIN ( BOLD: AFV 2021) with the nearest neighboring BIN (p - distance 12.2 %) being BOLD: AFF 4076, which consists of a single specimen of T. ramini from Iran.
Distribution.
Portugal; known from Beira Alta ( Lundblad 1956).
