Heterolepidoderma Remane, 1927 View in CoL is considered a polyphyletic genus ( Kieneke et al. 2008, Kånneby et al. 2012, 2013) that encompasses 21 nominal freshwater species and 13 nominal marine species (Todaro 2015; Kieneke et Schmidt-Rhaesa 2015). It is present in benthic, interstitial and peryphytic habitats ( Kisielewski 1997).
