2. Litsea floribunda (Blume) Gamble (1925 b: 1238) View in CoL . Cylicodaphne floribunda Blume (1852: 387) .
Neotype:— India, Tamil Nadu, Anamalais (Anaimalai), Coimbatore district, Monica , 31 Oct. 1901, C. A. Barber 3913 (K-000793245!, here designated).
Distribution:— India, endemic (Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu).
Notes:—The above neotype is required as the original collection or gathering on the basis of which Cylicodaphne floribunda is described is not known to exist. Within the protologue, Blume cited only ‘In India orientali’ but did not provide precise locality, collector name, date and the number of collection or gathering, mentioning that the material was sent to him by E. G. von Steudel. Since Blume’s types are known to exist mostly at L, some at BO, P and occasionally at K, we tried to trace the type in these herbaria as well as in BM, BR, CAL, E, GH, GZU, M, MH, NY, S, W, and Z but no specimen was found extant. Therefore, the collection of C.A. Barber at K (K-000793245) is chosen here as the neotype because it agrees well with the protologue and is also annotated as ‘ L. floribunda ’ by Gamble, who gave a new combination for Cylicodaphne floribunda Blume while working on Flora of Madras.
