Diagnosis

This species is close to the Vietnamese species, Promalactis heppneri Kim and Park in the wing pattern, but it can be easily differentiated by the presence of white marking terminally after two-thirds of forewing, and one dark spot above the tornus.

Description

Adult male ( Figures 1A,B; 2A View Figure 2 ). Head: frons shiny white; vertex brown. Antenna with white scape entirely, as long as diameter of eye; flagellum white entirely. Labial palpus brown; second segment mixed with white; third segment tinged with dark brown, shorter than second segment. Thorax and tegula dark brown dorsally. Wing expanse 7.5–8.0 mm. Forewing ground colour golden-brown, with well-developed white median band, surrounded by black scales, oblique, extending from one-quarter of costa to middle of posterior margin; white after fuscous scales beyond two-thirds of forewing, irregular blackish spot with tiny fuscous and yellowish-brown scales scattered near apex, with deep-grey scales before tonus on posterior margin; fringes white, rarely mixed with blackish scales. Hindwing more or less lanceolate; fringes greyish brown. Legs dark brown ventrally.

Male genitalia ( Figure 3A – C View Figure 3 ). Uncus slender, gradually widened to apex, deeply concave at apex. Valva more or less broad; costa concave medially, roundly expanded beyond two-thirds, with acute apex; deeply incised beyond apex; process of cucullus clavate, exceeding apex of valve, with dense hairs; sacculus long, terminated at apex, setose beyond one-half. Juxta with symmetrical, extremely long caudal processes. Saccus triangular, one-third length of valva. Aedeagus slender, 1.5 times longer than the valva, cornutus present and one-quarter length of aedeagus.
