Lectotype (Dahlgren in Opera Bot. 4: 114. 1960): Herb. Linn. No. 893.56 ( LINN) .

Current name: Aspalathus aspalathoides (L.) Rothm. View in CoL View at ENA ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: As noted by Nordenstam (in Bot. Not. 114: 278. 1961), this was a nomen novum provided for the illegitimate A. lotoides L. (1756) in the reprint of Cent. II Pl. (Nov 1759). However, it post-dates A. aspalathoides L. ( May–Jun 1759), of which it has been treated as an orthographic variant.
