TYPE LOCALITY: Madagascar, Fort Dauphin .
DISTRIBUTION: Gambia to Ethiopia, south to Namibia, Botswana, Transvaal ( South Africa) and Mozambique; Madagascar; adjacent small islands, including Saô Thomé.
SYNONYMS: gambiensis , gigas , marungensis, mostellum, niangarae , thomensis , viegasi, vittata .
