TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil, Goias .
DISTRIBUTION: Veracruz ( Mexico) south to N Argentina and Uruguay; Trinidad and Tobago.
SYNONYMS: andinus , arctoideus, arge , argentinus , chiriquinus , derasus, ferrugineus, hilarii, inca; melanopterus Jentink ; nitens, thomasi .
COMMENTS: Subgenus Eptesicus . Includes chiriquinus , melanopterus , and andinus ; see Koopman (19786:19); but see also Davis (1966).
