Treatment

Boydaia indica Fain, 1969: 373 , fig. 5. Holotype in RBINS, examined. Boydaia (Boydaia) indica, Fain 1971: 101 , 110, fig. 16.

Type host: Acridotheres tristis (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Sturnidae ) from India.

Diagnosis. Hypostome with 2 pairs of setae. Setae ve present. Setae vi situated posterior to level of setae si. Sensillae SEa- or SEb-type. Agenital and pseudanal series with 2 pairs of setae, each. Number of leg setae: coxae 2–1–1–1, trochanters 1–1–0–0, femora 7–4–3–2, genua 4–4–3–3, tibiae 5–3–3–3. All setae on genu and tibia of leg I similar in shape. In larvae, antaxial and paraxial claws of leg I long, subequal, and sharp-ended.

Hosts and distribution. Passeriformes (Sturnidae) : LamprOtOrnis chalybaeus Hemprich and Ehrenberg from Sub-Saharan Africa (based on host distribution ( Clements et al. 2016); org. died in captivity in Antverp, Belgium (Fain 1971)), L. chlOrOpterus chlOrOpterus Swainson from Democratic Republic of Congo ( Fain 1969, 1971), L. superbus Rueppell from East Africa (based on host distribution ( Clements et al. 2016); org. died in captivity in Antverp, Belgium ( Fain 1971).

Non-African hosts and distribution. Sturnidae : Gracupica cOntra (Linnaeus) (= SturnOpastOr capensis ), Sturnia malabarica (Gmelin) and S. pagOdarum (Gmelin) all from India and died in captivity in Belgium ( Fain 1969).
