Tribe Gigantometopini Herczek, 1993
Gigantometopini is a small tribe presently containing six genera in the Oriental Region ( Herczek et al. 2018, Taszakowski et al. 2020), including two that occur in India and one in Sri Lanka.
According to Taszakowski et al. (2020: 72), Yasunaga et al. (2017) proposed placing the genus Isometopidea Poppius, 1913 View in CoL (with the single species Isometopidea lieweni Poppius, 1913 View in CoL ) in the tribe Gigantometopini .Although Yasunaga et al. (2017: 428) discussed the possibility that Isometopidea View in CoL belonged in Gigantometopini , they maintained it in Myiommini (see their species list p. 423), indicating it was necessary to acquire additional material before any formal decisions on tribal placement are made. We concur with Yasunaga et al. (2017) and retain Isometopidea View in CoL in Myiommini .
