( Figs. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 16 , 164–167 View FIGURES 156 – 167 , 839 View FIGURE 839 )
Type locality. Iran: Ilam Prov., Dehloran. Holotype: male ( NHMUK).
Material examined. IRAN: [Ilam Province], Dehloran , 10.5.1973, 1♂ (Holotype) (leg. A. A. Soltani) ( NHMUK).
Description. Male (Holotype): Body compressed laterally ( Figs. 164, 165 View FIGURES 156 – 167 ). Preocellar foveola ( Fig. 167 View FIGURES 156 – 167 ) very weak, almost as large as lateral ocellus. Frontal ridge with parallel sides above the median ocellus, narrowed just below the median ocellus, not reaching to clypeus ( Fig. 167 View FIGURES 156 – 167 ). Fastigium of vertex slightly swollen, convex in lateral view. Vertex ( Figs. 166, 167 View FIGURES 156 – 167 ) concave, lateral margins slightly raised; between the eyes 1.5 times narrower than vertical diameter and 1.15 times narrower than transversal diameter of eye; median carinula very weak and short. Antenna filiform with 20 segments. Pronotum ( Fig. 166 View FIGURES 156 – 167 ) compressed laterally, with sparse, large and blunt tubercles; anterior margin convex, posterior margin prolonged, very narrowly rounded at apex; lateral carinae absent; prozona roof-shaped, intersected by 2 transversal sulci, separated from metazona by deep typical sulcus, with grooved median carina; metazona roof-shaped, higher and clearly longer (1.65 times) than prozona, median carina very weakly grooved. Tegmina ( Figs. 164, 165 View FIGURES 156 – 167 ) long reaching beyond the half of hind tibia, 4.4 times longer than wide. Hind wing ( Fig. 164 View FIGURES 156 – 167 ) pale yellow, with a narrow crescent median dark band, not touching anterior and posterior margins, posterior curved part short, strongly narrowed and ended far from the inner margin of wing; apical lobes without dark spot, but very weakly infumate with darkened veins. Hind femur 3.8 times longer than its height, dorsal margin slightly convex, finelly serrated, ventral margin convex in proximal part; preapical narrowing (2.5 mm) distinct, genicular lobes 3.1 mm. Hind tibia with 9 inner and 10 outer spines. Arolium very narrow and small, reaching to 1/3 of claws. Subtympanal lobe covering 1/3 of tympanum. Mesosternal interspace 1.6 times wider than its length and 1.4 times wider than mesosternal lobes. Prosternum not raised, with a low carinate margin as in the genus. Dorsal valves of cingulum as long as apical valves of penis ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 16 a); tumida of zygoma distinct almost transversal; tumida of cingulum vertical ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 16 a); arch of zygoma almost rectangular ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 16 b); basal valves of penis distinctly longer than apodemes, its dorso-basal corner strongly curved outwards ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 16 a); posteromedian projection of epiphallus with slightly concave hind margin, pseudolophi oval, with 14 spines ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 6 – 16 c).
Female: Unknown.
Coloration. Body creamish light brown with small brown spots. Head and pronotum with small whitish tubercles. Antenna cream. Tegmina with brown spots. Hind wing pale yellow with a crescent, median brown band, apical lobes slightly infumate with darkened veins. Inner surface of hind femur creamish-yellow with a very indistinct bluish stain. Inner and dorsal surface of hind tibia orange, basal and apical end yellow, between the 3rd and 4th apical inner spines of the right tibia with a small bluish stain.
Measurements (mm). Holotype (male): body length 40.3; pronotum length 9.8 (prozona 3.7, metazona 6.1); pronotum height 8.9; tegmina length 36.3; tegmina width 8.3; hind femur length 17.5; hind femur height 4.6.
Diagnosis. This species is most related to E. reducta (Uvarov) by the general body shape and the color of hind wings, but it is distinguished by the orange hind tibia (blue in E. reducta ), the crescent median dark band of hind wing (almost L-shaped and incurved posterior part long in E. reducta ), the long basal valves of penis, longer than apodemes, with strongly curved dorso-basal margin (basal valves of penis slightly shorter than apodemes and dorso-basal margin slightly curved in E. reducta ). It is similar to E. cinerascens afghana (Uvarov) and E. cinerascens aurantipes (Uvarov) by the orange hind tibia, but the absence of apical dark spot and very narrow crescent median band of hind wing (apical lobes with large dark spot, median band very widened and much longer in E. cinerascens aurantipes and E. cinerascens afghana and the disc greenish in E. cinerascens aurantipes while yellow in E. cinerascens afghana ), the larger body are different. The curved margin of basal valves of penis is similar to E. festiva (Saussure) and E. cinerascens afghana (Uvarov) , but the absence of apical dark spot and narrow median dark band (apical dark spot very distinct and basal part completely darkened in E. festiva ), the hind leg colors (inner surfaces of hind femur and tibia red in E. festiva ) are different.
Etymology. This species name is dedicated to its collector, orthopterist A. A. Soltani from Iran.
