Genus: Beybienkia Tsyplenkov, 1956 View in CoL
Tsyplenkov 1956: 883, 885. Type species: Beybienka songorica Tsyplenkov, 1956 .
Sinotmethis Bey-Bienko, 1959 View in CoL (Type species: Sinotmethis amicus Bey-Bienko, 1959 View in CoL ) syn. nov. Kanotmethis Yin, 1994 View in CoL (Type species: Atrichotmethis cyanipes Yin & Feng, 1983 View in CoL ) syn. nov.
Remarks. Bey-Bienko (1959: 415) in describing the genus Sinotmethis and its type species Sinotmethis amicus Bey-Bienko, 1959 , gave the related genera as Beybienkia Tsyplenkov , Mongolotmethis Bey-Bienko and Eremocharis Saussure , but did not compare the different and similar characters. Xia Kailing et al. (1994) reported both genera in the fauna of China and distinguished Sinotmethis by the shape of pronotum (lower prozona and median carina of pronotum, weaker typical transverse sulcus and not serrated dorsal margin in lateral view). These pronotal characters are very common and undoubtedly variable in the genera of tribe Thrinchini such as Glyphotmethis or Eremopeza , Pezotmethis , Thrinchus etc. and they may be used in species or subspecies. According to the characters of Sinotmethis given by Bey-Bienko (1959) and the characters of the paratype of S. amicus studied in the ZIN, it cannot be distinguished as a different genus from Beybienkia Tsyplenkov. The structure of frontal ridge, the low prozona of pronotum, the shape and length of tegmina, the prosternal process are strongly similar to Beybienkia songorica Tsyplenkov and especially B. lithophila Gorochov & Mistshenko ( Figs. 249–252 View FIGURES 237 – 258 ).
Yin (in Xia Kailing et al. 1994) also established the genus Kanotmethis for Atrichotmethis cyanipes Yin & Feng, 1983 . He recognized it by the low median carina of pronotum, longer metazona (than prozona), the shape and length of tegmina (reaching to half of hind tibia and not narrowed apically). The lower median carina of pronotum and longer metazona are also seen in B. songorica and B. litophila . The shape and the length of tegmina are certainly shared with B. litophila .
Therefore both genera Sinotmethis Bey-Bienko and Kanotmethis Yin are proposed synonyms of Beybienkia Tsyplenkov.
The listed species below are given in new combinations because of the synonymies of their previous genera: Beybienkia cyanipes (Yin & Feng, 1983) comb. nov.
Beybienkia yabraiensis (Xi & Zheng, 1993) comb. nov.
Beybienkia brachypenna (Xi & Zheng, 1993) comb. nov.
According to the ICZN (Article 34.2) the species name of this taxon is combined. Beybienkia brachyptera ( Zheng & Xi, 1985) comb. nov.
According to the ICZN (Article 34.2) the species name of this taxon is combined.
