Tropidauchen securicolle Saussure, 1887 View in CoL
Material examined. IRAN: Esfahan, Gav. Pice, 10.5.1949, 1♀ (leg. H. Zade) (det. Dirsh); S.W . Iran, S.W. of Behbahan , on the edge of Khuzestan plains, 4.4.1959, 1♀ (leg. L.F.H. Merton) (det. Dirsh) ( NHMUK).
Remarks. Dirsh (1952: 101) designated the lectotype, one male in the MHNG, but Hollier (2012: 330) gave the lectotype of this species as female. The lectotype must be the male in the MHNG.
The lectotype has the locality label “ Syria ”. According to Dirsh (1952) this is certainly incorrect and the type probably originated from Iran, with which I agree.
This species is closely related to T. escalerai Bolívar, 1912 (= T. marginatum Bolívar, 1912 ). I have compared only 2 females in the NHMUK with T. marginatum . It is possibly a synonym of T. escalerai as well.
