Material examined. BULGARIA: Tschernl Rld., Kardjallsko, 20.7.1964, 1♂ (Holotype) (leg. G. Peschev) ( NMNHB) ; Pelevun , Jvajlovgrdasko, 5.6.1965, 1♂, 1♀ (leg. G. Peschev) (AİBÜEM); Jvajlovgrdasko, 4 – 5.6.1965, 1♂, 1♀ (leg. G. Peschev) (ZIN).
Distribution. Known from S.E. Bulgaria and N.E. Greece in the Eastern Rhodops ( Fig. 840 View FIGURE 840 ).
Remarks. This species is interestingly similar to Nocaracris furvus (Mistshenko, 1951) s.l. by the similar size of tympanum and general body shape, compressed laterally. But it is distinguished by the raised, arcuate median carina of pronotum, the raised abdominal tergites with distinct posterior projection (see also key to genera of Nocarodeini ). These differences are much more distinct in N. furvus kazdagi ssp. nov., while the prosternum is pointed in both taxa. The prosternum is broadly rounded in N. furvus furvus which is another distinct character and the tibia color, separates it from P. chopardi .
