Euconnus (Cladoconnus) nakahamai Hoshina & Miyata
( Figs 3–4 View FIGURES 1–5 , 14–21, 26 View FIGURE 26 )
Euconnus (Cladoconnus) nakahamai Hoshina & Miyata, 2018: 296 . Type material studied. Holotype: ♂ ( JAPAN, SHIKOKU, KOCHI PREF.): “Japan, Shikoku / Mt. Ôzareyama, / Ôkawa Village, Kochi Pref.” [white, handwritten], label with the same data repeated in Japanese characters [white, printed], “ 27.V.2007, / T. Miyata & T. Miyata leg.” [white, printed], “ Euconnus / ( Cladoconnus ) / nakahamai Hoshi- na et. al.” [white, printed], “ Holotype ” [red, printed] (MNHAH).
Additional material. 1 ♂, Japan, Shikoku, Ehime Pref., Shiraishi-goya, Mt. Ishizuchi , 8.VI.1959, “in litter”, M. Sakai leg. ; 1 ♂, same data except for 8.VI.1997 ; 1 ♀, same data but 7.VI.1997. Specimens in EUMJ and cPJ .
Emended diagnosis. Endophallus with one elongate, pointed and slightly undulating sclerite shorter than half length of median lobe.
Distribution ( Fig. 26 View FIGURE 26 ). Japan, Shikoku.
Remarks. This species shows a small, but noticeable variability in the shape of the endophallic sclerite ( Figs 14, 16, 18 View FIGURES 14–21 show aedeagi of three specimens). In the holotype ( Figs 14–15 View FIGURES 14–21 ), the ventral apical plate protrudes distad beyond the apex of the dorsal plate, but this structure is movable and in natural position (in repose) it tightly adheres to the dorsal plate and is positioned as that in Figs 16–21 View FIGURES 14–21 .
In the original description, the authorship of E. nakahamai is cited as “Hoshina et Miyata”. The authorship of the paper is Hideto Hoshina, Takasuke Miyata and Toshie Miyata, and therefore, the authorship of the species name remains unclear. According to H. Hoshina (email to PJ dated 27.04.2019), the authorship of E. nakahamai is Hoshina & Takasuke Miyata.
