Tonnoira brisolaii Santos View in CoL sp. nov.
( Figs. 1–5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 )
Diagnosis. Eye bridge with 4 facet rows; interocular suture inverted Y-shaped. Wing with base of R2+3 not connected to R4. Gonostylus bifurcated near base. Epandrial clasping lobes sickle-shaped, with two tenacula.
Description. Male. Length total 3.8 mm. Head: eyes separated by 0.4 facet diameters; interocular suture inverted Y-shaped; antenna with 16 antennomeres; scape cylindrical, 1.3 times the length of pedicel; pedicel spherical; flagellum with 14 flagellomeres; all flagellomeres cylindrical; basal flagellomere 1.1times the length of second; apiculus present on flagellomere 14 (fig. 2); palpus formula = 1.0:2.5:2.5:2.4; apical palp segment striated. Wing with Sc short, with apex unattached; base of R2+3 not connected to R4; radial and medial fork placed in basal half of wing; R5 unattached basally, ending slightly posterior to apex of wing (fig. 3). Terminalia: Gonocoxites contiguous with hypandrium; hypandrium narrow, arcuate in dorsal view; gonostylus bifurcated near base; basiphallus symmetrical; parameres simple, tapering to apex equaling the aedeagal length (fig. 4); epandrium nearly rectangular; hypoproct micropilose, with posterior margin rounded; epandrial clasping lobes elongate, sickle-shaped, with one apical and one subapical clavate tenacula (fig. 5).
Material examined. BRAZIL, state of Espírito Santo, Santa Teresa, Reserva Biológia Augusto Ruschi, (19º54’S, 40º33’W, 820 m. a.s.l.), holotype male, 28.IX.2011, Santos, CB., eighteen paratype males with the same data as the holotype.
Etymology. This species is named in honor of Dr. Carlos Brisola Marcondes, researcher of Diptera .
Remarks. Tonnoira brisolaii is morphologically similar to T.bifida , T. bifurcata and T. didyma based on the deeply bifurcated gonostylus and epandrial clasping lobe with two tenacula. T. brisolaii differs from the other species by having an eye bridge with four facet rows devided medially by slightly less than one facet diameter, epandrial clasping lobes elongate, sickle-shaped and the epandrium nearly rectangular.
