Original description. Playfair 1917, P. 656, Table 138, Fig. 12.
Description. Shell small, ovate, circular in transverse section, rounded aborally, and with sides converging to a very narrow apertural part, aperture very narrow, often just a pore, with thickened rim, or sometimes with a very narrow but distinct collar, shell surface smooth.
Measurements. Shell length 10–13 µm, shell width 8–9 µm, aperture diameter 2–3 µm.
Habitat. Freshwater, bogs.
Geographical distribution. Australia, Russia, Crozet and Possession Island , Greenland, USA.
