Description. Shell small, ovate or widely elliptical, yellowish-brown, transparent, laterally compressed, elliptical in transverse section, surface smooth, without mineral inclusions, aperture circular or elliptical, very small, surrounded by an organic lip.

Measurements. Shell length 13–21 µm, shell width 9–21 µm.

Habitat. Freshwater, Sphagnum mosses, soil.

Geographical distribution. Cosmopolitan.
